Bamidbar (Wilderness) Numbers 1:1-4:20

The census intrigues me. I think the counting and sealing in Revelation has something to do with this count in Numbers, but I haven’t figured it out yet. If you know, please tell me!

I notice the wonderful arithmetical precision of this passage. I left the reading knowing that redemption does not happen by accident. We really were redeemed with a price, and no one slipped by uncounted or unaccounted for by one of the terms of redemption God provides.

Also, the terms of the census are different for the Levites, who belong to God, and the Israelites. Of the tribes of Israel besides Levi, all those 20 and over who are able to go to war are counted (Num. 1.3). Of the Levites, all the males over one month–one month!–are counted (Num. 3.15).
